3. The Real You Inside

Scripture

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders…”
Mark 7:21

Reflection

Some people look good on the outside.
They dress right, talk gently, post verses online, and say, “God is good.”
They’ve learned how to look humble in public.

But when you open their hearts, the story changes.
Inside, there’s jealousy, hatred, competition, gossip, bitterness, and fake smiles that hide cold hearts.

Jesus said it plainly:

“It’s not what enters a man that defiles him, but what comes out of him.” (Mark 7:15)

You can polish your face, but if your heart is filthy, you’re still unclean.
You can quote Scripture, but if you secretly hope others fail, you’re not spiritual, just rehearsed.

God isn’t fooled by appearance.
He sees the quiet corners of the soul,
the conversations we hold in silence,
the motives behind our kindness,
and the truth we hide under politeness.

Real faith begins on the inside. It is not shaped by style, but by surrender.

Faith Lessons

  1. The world sees appearance, but God sees reality.
You can’t impress God with looks; He reads hearts.
  2. The problem isn’t the face, it’s the heart.
Sin begins in thoughts long before it becomes actions.
  3. Cleaning the outside without fixing the inside is deception.
True transformation starts when Jesus cleans the heart.

Faith Exercise for the Week

This week’s faith exercise is not about your words or actions, it’s about your motives.

Monday–Tuesday:
Begin each day with this prayer:

“Lord, fix my inside before I face the world.”

Wednesday:
Identify one thought, habit, or attitude that doesn’t please God. Confess it.
Ask Him to replace it with love and truth.

Thursday–Friday:
Do one act of kindness in secret, without posting it, mentioning it, or seeking praise.
Let your obedience be seen only by God.

Sabbath–Sunday:
Take ten minutes of silence before bed.
Reflect on how it felt to live more honestly this week.
Write down what you discovered about your heart.

Faith grows when we face the truth within us.
God doesn’t want perfection, He wants purity of heart.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
I don’t want to look holy, I want to be holy.
Cleanse the inside of my heart where jealousy hides and pride whispers.
Remove every spirit of hypocrisy, and fill me with honesty, humility, and love.
Let my smile be real, my words pure, and my heart completely Yours.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Faith Call

God doesn’t bless fake hearts, He restores honest ones.
Let your inside match your outside.
Let your heart tell the same story as your lips.
Because Heaven always looks deeper, and Jesus still heals hearts.
